Matt Bailie Launches Kickstarter

Matt BailieI always get really excited when I hear about an artist launching a Kickstarter. There’s nothing that quite compares to a fan’s dedication to their favorite artist, and Matt Bailie is about to prove that all over again. After all, he did take home the country prize for our 2010 Intel Superstars competition, and then emerge as the big winner of our 2011 OurStage Panel—there’s no doubt this artist has talent and a surging fan base to back him up.

With a dream to fund his sophomore release, I Wanna Live Like That, along with the music video for “Dress Down,” Bailie has launched a 30-day Kickstarter. Having worked with ACM and CMA award winning producer Darran Smith on the album, Bailie is seeking funds to cover the cost of everything from manufacturing to promotion, with the aim of getting the attention of industry giants CMT and GAC. Some of the pledge prizes include the new album, handwritten lyrics, recording session, cover video, and a full band house show. Check out the Kickstarter video below, and pledge right here to be a part of Bailie Nation. Continue reading ‘Matt Bailie Launches Kickstarter’

Dawn And Hawkes Perform On ‘The Voice’

dawn and hawkeNot that long ago, Austin, TX musicians Dawn and Hawkes were finalists in our Intel Superstars competition. Garnering comparisons to Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, this real-life couple turned folksy duo recently took to the The Voice to perform their cover of The Beatles‘ “I’ve Just Seen a Face.” Within seconds of their opening lines Adam Levine (Maroon 5) and Shakira had already expressed interest, with Levine saying that it was his “favorite performance [he's] ever seen on The Voice.” In the end, they chose Levine. 2013 Intel Superstars Winner!

24243_OurStage_120x120_0002_WinnerThe 2013 Intel Superstars competition has concluded. After listening to and carefully evaluating the final Top 20, Intel and their panel of judges have selected as the grand prize winner Sara Lindsay, whose song, “Make It All Right,” was a clear favorite. The combination of her strong voice with the song’s unique and compelling melody and pristine production put Sara over the top of some really tough competition. Sara will take home $10,000, courtesy of Intel!

In fact, some of Sara’s competition was so good that we’d like to highlight some of our personal faves here, as well. Enjoy.

Annalise Emerick, “This Love Won’t Break Your Heart”
This was a standout hit here at OurStage HQ, both for the beauty of its melody and harmony, the simplicity of the production, and the timely New Year’s Eve lyrical sentiment.

Sarah Lindsay: 2010′s Intel Superstar

As we really get rolling with the 2013 edition of our Intel Superstars Competition, we’d like to take a look back at some of our previous big winners. Each year there have in fact been several winners of prizes ranging from a new Intel Ultrabook™ device to new instruments and equipment to straight-up cash. But only one per year can be named the top Superstar and walk away with the grand prize, which this year will be a check for $10,000.

In 2010, the Superstars Competition was a new idea, and a lot of artists weren’t sure what it was all about. Enter Sara Lindsay.

As an established member of the OurStage.com community, Sara stumbled upon the Intel Superstars Competition in the summer of 2010. She submitted her upbeat single “Best Of Me” to the Singer-Songwriter category on a whim. When she heard the news of her grand prize winnings, including an Intel® Core™ i7 processor-based mobile device, she was elated.

“Winning has been unbelievably great and has opened a lot of doors,” she said. It has given me a boost of confidence and the opportunity to record and play a lot more,” Lindsay recounts. “It’s great being able to lay down tracks using all these electronic sounds and with my Ultrabook I can show people those ideas.”

Do you think your song can take you to the top? Enter the competition now, tell your fans to judge for you, and you may very well be next. Remember, Intel and our sponsors are giving away eight prize packages, in addition to the grand prize. And fans, you too can win a new Ultrabook device, just for judging. Find out more here.

Announcing The Grand Prize Winner Of The Intel Superstars Competition!

The Intel “Superstars” Competition kicked off in July, offering artists from around the country a chance to compete for laptops equipped with Intel® Core processor technology and Cakewalk music creation software in genre-specific music channels including rock, pop, country, urban, singer-songwriter and Latin. The Top 20 artists in each of these channels earned a place in the Intel “Superstars” Finals Competition for a shot at winning $10,000!

Six months, 5,900 artists, 13,000 songs in 6 genres and over 220,000 votes later, a grand prize winner has been chosen by a panel of judges including Kristin Bredimus (OurStage.com), Bruce Tyler (former EVP Sony Music), Mike Rivet (Intel Corporation), Jimmy Landry  (Artist Relations/Cakewalk and former A&R, EMI and Capitol Records), Rev. MOOSE (VP of Content, CMJ Network) and Jason Jordan (VP, A&R  Hollywood Records).  Meet Sara Lindsay, a 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Lakewood, California. Sara entered her winning song into the Intel “Superstars” Pop Competition Channel and battled all the way to the top with her song “Best of Me.” It was that very song that caught the ears of the judges in the competition, landing her the $10,000 grand prize and a special performance slot at the Intel booth at the CES conference in Las Vegas. Join us in congratulating Sara Lindsay on her win! Stay tuned to the OurStage blog for our interview with Sara in the coming weeks. Superstars Winners Walk Away With Laptops And Cakewalk Software

The Intel “Superstars” Competition gave artists nationwide the opportunity to compete for prize packages that included laptops powered by Intel® Core™ processor technology, music creation software and equipment from Cakewalk. The top finalists in each of the “Superstars” channels—which included rock, pop, singer-songwriter, urban, Latin and country—recently received their prize packages, and we caught up with them to hear about the experience. The competition clearly helped each artist in different ways. For some, the prize helped form a foundation for building a home studio or added on to an existing setup, and for others it offered the opportunity to get their music out to a broader audience. Winning artists Anthony Rankin, ARENBE and Nick Drum of Brave Chandeliers weigh in on their experiences below.

Anthony Rankin discovered OurStage and the Intel “Superstars” Competition via friend and fellow OurStage artist Brooke Annibale—who won an opening slot for HANSON in the Shout it Out with HANSON Competition on OurStage this past summer. He came in at the Number 4 spot in the “Superstars” Singer-Songwriter Competition with his song “Quicksand.”  “Just the idea that fans and music listeners of all persuasions voted for this… It was humbling to think that people felt one of my songs was in the upper echelon of that many talented indie artists, recalls Rankin.” “I received the PC and software the day after Thanksgiving, and started using it within an hour to work on some new material. I’m writing all the time, and the new equipment seamlessly integrated into my home studio and mobile rig, giving me a more powerful machine to track demos and start work on a new album. Beyond the inspiring new laptop and software, OurStage has brought me mass exposure through their network of listeners; it’s hard to argue a farther reaching or more obvious positive result than that.”

ARENBE, who placed third in the “Superstars” Urban Competition, found success in the form of more fans not to mention the ability to record their vocal tracks at home. “We have never got around to purchasing equipment. We’ve been going to a couple studios in Houston locally working on various projects, but now we can record at home on our own time. We’ve been looking to build a home setup just for the convenience of recording vocals, and it feels great to have won the PC and software. Now we can work on mastering the engineering side of things. We really appreciate what OurStage is doing for artists looking to breakout in the industry. Just the opportunity to compete with other artists out there and come out in good standing lets us know we deserve to be here. It helps us continue to push in pursuing our dream.”

Portland Alt-Pop Rockers Brave Chandeliers, who placed second in the “Superstars” Rock Channel, recalled the benefits of winning the prize—for their careers and themselves. “We have used the success in our promotional materials, demonstrating that we have commercial viability and it helped us get our music in front of new listeners by being rated that highly during the competition. It also gave us a big boost of self-esteem (added bonus for extra credit)!”

Click HERE and HERE to check out the rest of the winning artists in the Intel Superstars Competition. The winners also have some serious love to share with YOU the fans:

Brave Chandeliers: “We love OurStage! Thanks to the many many fans who took time out of there busy days to vote incessantly for us”.

ARENBE: “We would first like to thank OurStage and Intel for the opportunity. There are not many Web sites or companies offering cash and various other prizes just by entering your music; especially not nationally. We’d also like to thank all of the fans and other artists as well in their contribution in the judging process, and getting us in the position we were placed in. Thank you again!”

Anthony Rankin: “Thank you, thank you, thank you to my longtime supporters, but also to the people who found my music for the first time through this competition, as well as the staff at OurStage, not just for hosting the contest but for being kind and communicative throughout.  You seriously rock.”
