Becky G Debuts “Play It Again” Video

It’s impossible to know what the weather is like when you’re reading this, but as I type it here on the outskirts of Boston it dawns on me that Summer is approaching faster than I realize. The heat is returning to the daytime, and its intensity is growing by the day. More importantly, people are wearing less clothes, festivals are being announced, and summer jam are being released left and right. Today we have another possible hit to share, but before you go any further you may need to create some space to dance.

Her second single in two months, “Play It Again” may have what it takes to help Becky G become a household name. The tiny-sized lyricist/songbird rides a snare heavy beat from the top of the track with a fury second-to-none. It’s likely common hip hop fans will note the similarities between her in-our-face approach and Nicki Minaj’s spastic delivery, but make no mistake – Becky G is an original. If Minaj had ridden this beat it would become another egotistical rant about lavish life and well hung men, but instead Becky G offers a fiercely romantic track that is simultaneously abrasive and catchy. Will Becky G be the breakout act of Summer 2013? Comment and let us know your thoughts. Continue reading ‘Becky G Debuts “Play It Again” Video’

I’ll Tell Ya What: New Music From Ex-Pats Linebacker Tully Banta Cain is “Out of Control”

Here at OurStage, we make it a goal to fill each and every day with the best music news we possibly can. Somedays that means writing half a dozen pieces on Rick Ross and others that means we’re going to be listening to a lot of dubstep, but today it’s a middle ground that we think everyone can enjoy.

While searching the morning’s headlines and editorials, a blog from popular urban music site HitEmWhereTheyAint caught our eye. In it, a blogger from the site goes in depth on the new single from Ex-Patriots Linebacker Tully Banta Cain, who recently launched a hip hop career. You can read the entire post below or, if you feel like giving HitEmWhereTheyAint a visit, click here to see the original post. Broadway Idiot & ¡Cuatro!

>

It’s a two-for-one deal for Green Day this year, so we’re grouping the dual documentaries on the band into a single punktastic category. Broadway Idiot focuses on Billie Joe Armstrong’s transition to the Broadway stage for the theatrical rendition of the band’s 2004 rock opus American Idiot, while ¡Cuatro! focuses on the making of the band’s recent trilogy of albums.

Watch it after: Missing your favorite punk band’s set in favor of that “awesome new shoegaze, EDM meets post-punk” act that your friend misguidedly recommended. Continue reading ’5 Most Anticipated Music Films Of SXSW’

Rick Ross Targeted In Attempted Miami Shooting

Hip-hop is no stranger to violence, whether it’s in boastful lyrics, videos, or the actual past lives of emcees who’ve escaped the streets and struggles of the inner city. Sometimes, though, it gets too real. Cut to Monday morning in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where Rick Ross barely escaped a barrage of bullets in an apparent drive-by shooting on the morning of his 37 birthday. Ross and girlfriend Shateria L. Moragne-el were reportedly on their way to a birthday breakfast when a gunman from another car opened fire on Ross’ 2011 Rolls-Royce. Ross sped away, only to quickly crash into a nearby apartment building. Though the bullets pierced the window of a nearby diner, neither Ross, nor his girlfriend, nor any of the diner patrons were injured. The night before, Ross has been celebrating his birthday with P. Diddy at the LIV nightclub in Miami. Continue reading ‘Rick Ross Targeted In Attempted Miami Shooting’

Justin Timberlake To Release New Single TODAY At Noon EST

Sexy is back. After the spread of rampant rumors set off by Florida radio station 97.9 FM about a possible new single from Justin Timberlake, the man himself has since tweeted a cryptic message suggesting that he may indeed be releasing a brand new single later today.

While Timberlake has spent the past half-decade focusing on his acting career, with major roles in films such as The Social Network and Friends With Benefits, fans of his music have been hungering for new tunes ever since the release of his second solo album FutureSex/LoveSounds in 2006. While further information has yet to be confirmed, Billboard reports that Timberlake’s new single may be just the first taste of an entirely new batch of material that could include production from his frequent collaborator Timbaland.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed that an entire new Justin Timberlake album, produced by Timbaland, will definitely be dropping in 2013.
