New Music Seminar Presents Artist On The Verge

After successful seminars from LA to Chicago, New Music Seminar (NMS) has returned to its roots in NYC, running a 2-day, 3-night seminar July 19th-21st. This event is where artists learn the tricks of the trade on how to “rise above the noise floor” in the fast-paced and ever-changing music business while networking with other artists, managers, agents and labels.

NMS featured “players” (speakers) for the upcoming New York City conference will include Eric Garland (Big Champagne), Joe Kennedy (Pandora), Mike Doernberg (ReverbNation), Courtney Holt (MySpace Music), Little Steven (Underground Garage DJ and the E Street Band member), Jay Frank (CMT), Gwen Lipsky (Sound Thinking), Tom Jackson (, Martin Atkins (Tour:Smart), John Simson (SoundExchange), Corrie Christopher (APA), Chris Vinson (Bandzoogle), and Tony Van Veen (Disc Makers). Look for more speakers to be announced shortly. New Music Seminar Announces Finalists for Artists on the Verge

NMS_2009_ logoLast month OurStage launched one of its first premium channels in celebration of New Music Seminar heading to Los Angeles. The groundbreaking music industry seminar will be making its first west coast appearance after successful events in New York and Chicago on February 2nd. The NMS founders Tom Silverman, and renowned manager and touring expert, Dave Lory, wanted to make this edition of the seminar extra special by inviting pop, rock and urban artists to compete for several exposure opportunities with some of the industry’s most connected leaders. Eight artists were narrowed down from hundreds in New Music Seminar’s Artists on the Verge New Winter Artist Search to have an A&R package sent to top US labels. Of those eight, three were selected to be flown out to LA to attend New Music Seminar and compete for a career-making grand prize package worth over $25,000 in gear and consultation services from NMS partners.

The New Music Seminar announces the final program for the Chicago NMS Symphony. This one-day educational and networking event for Artists, Managers, music labels, and others in the music business,  will reveal the secrets of the emerging new music business; its new paradigm and new opportunities,  as well as tools and examples of how to achieve success in the new era.

The New Music Seminar, which for 15 years was the #1 music conference in the world, will again be the number one place for networking and building business partnerships that will become the foundations of the new music business. The NMS will provide delegates with opportunities to meet with the leaders of the new music business, get the advice, information and tools to do it themselves.

After July’s highly successful turn out in New York City, Tom Silverman and Dave Lory are taking their influential New Music Seminar to Chicago’s Park West Theater on October 6th. In New York, droves of music industry professionals gathered to listen to words of wisdom from keynote speaker Courtney Holt, President of MySpace Music. For the Chicago seminar, President of Yahoo! Michael Spiegelman is the head of Yahoo! Music, where he runs one of the most visited Music Web sites in the world and a leading source of music videos and Internet radio. While at Yahoo! Music, Michael has been responsible for leading the re-launch of the site, adding concert information, music blogs and video playlisting. He served as a leading member of the team that designed and launched the Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscription service.

Prior to joining Yahoo! Music in 2003, Michael was a co-founder of Web Paradox, a web design and development company in San Diego, CA. While there, he was responsible for business development, strategy, client relations and project management. His clients included Verizon, AT&T, Nextel and the US Navy.

Michael was a Senior Strategy Consultant at iXL, a leading Internet consulting and development company, where he provided strategic consulting services to Fortune 500 companies and startups.
