Then some other people helped her make this video.
These are things that happened.

There is nothing else like this.
Not long ago, a number of popular music sites began reporting that Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne had recorded a duet with her new husband, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger. The couple remained quiet on the topic, but this morning that gossip was confirmed when a new single, titled “Let Me Go,” found its way online. You can stream the track at the end of this post.
Things have been a little rocky for Avril Lavigne in recent years. The twenty-something has been dealing with a divorce and a somewhat stalled music career. “Let Me Go” finds Avril attempting to shake off the shackles of her past in favor of a fresh start, and the results are actually not uninteresting. Kroeger’s appearance is very subdued, so that’s something.
There are already rumors that additional collaborative songs between Lavigne and Kroeger exist, but at this time no information confirming such talk has been released. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on “Let Me Go.” Continue reading ‘Avril Lavigne Debuts “Let Me Go” Featuring Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger’
As breaking news of the day goes, it’s not exactly groundbreaking. Still, there it was, in multiple variations, splattered across the online pages of E!, Us Weekly, Entertainment Weekly (which called it a “hair break-over”), People magazine and so many other websites devoted, in large and small part, to such trivialities. You’d think Samson had risen from the dead and taken up guitar.
But wait! Shouldn’t Delilah — I mean, Katy Perry — have been the star of this life (and a new ‘do)-after-love story? Traditionally, the celebrity tabloids and gossip websites pursue female celebrities about whom they date, whom they marry, whom they divorce, to search for baby bumps, and fashion dos and don’ts. Guys generally get in only when they’re dating one of them. (Why do you think Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger, who once went from long to short without causing so much as a media ripple and is now engaged to Avril Lavigne, is suddenly “newsworthy”?)
By those standards, John Mayer must be some kind of publicity-baiting genius. In the last several years, he’s made himself as much of a tabloid fixture as an A-list starlet by dating a succession of them: Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift, and most recently, Katy Perry, his pop-star paramour of a few months. David Byrne uses Philippine dictator as inspiration for new album
Rarely have the words “Imelda Marcos” and “good” been used in a sentence together, but we’re going to take a shot at it. David Byrne’s new concept album, Here Lies Love, is inspired by shoe fetishist/dictator Imelda Marcos, and it sounds GOOD. Byrne co-wrote the album with Fatboy Slim, and recruited a different female vocalist for each track. Among them are Santigold, Roisin Murphy, Sharon Jones, Alice Russell and Tori Amos. The album drops in early April. Read more about it here.
Nickelback’s sour response to Facebook pickle group
If you spend any time on Facebook, you’ve probably seen news feeds for the group “Can this pickle get more fans than Nickelback?” The answer is yes. As of Wednesday, the pickle had 1,488,589 fans whereas the band had a mere 1,422,807. Well, singer Chad Kroeger didn’t like that one bit, and left a tart comment that read, “You’re page will be closing in 2 weeks.” Coral Anne, the creator of the pickle group, replied, “I still whooped your ass, Chad!” Yeah, no one likes a pickle puss, CHAD.
Whitney Houston angers Aussies with Brisbane performance
A “croaky” and “disoriented” Whitney Houston received dismal reviews for her performance at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Monday. According to multiple critics and fans, the 46-year-old singer appeared out of breath throughout the concert, coughing through some numbers and turning the epic high point of “I Will Always Love You” into a breathless coo. Houston has a handful of dates left in Australia before she heads over to Europe for more boos shows.
