Carly Rae Jepsen To Make Broadway Debut

Carly Rae JepsenCarly Rae Jepsen is about to become a princess — on Broadway, that is. Taking the role of Cinderella in “Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” Jepsen will make her debut beginning February 4 for a 12 week run. Jepsen is no stranger to theater, having starred in classics such as “Grease” and “Annie” in high school before attending the Canadian College of Performing Arts.  For her upcoming role, she will perform alongside Fran Drescher, who will play Cinderella’s stepmother.

“Broadway has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl and I look forward to working with this incredibly talented cast to tell this classic tale,” said Jepsen, “These last few years have been a real fairy tale come to life for me, so I feel especially blessed to play this part and be reminded that you must never stop dreaming!”

This New Year’s Eve was nothing short of spectacular in Times Square, with a broad range of talent gracing the stage, and embracing hundreds of thousands of screaming fans eager to take in the New Year. This past Sunday, Nov. 11, we saw performances by The Killers, Taylor Swift, PSY, fun., and several others at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Frankfurt, Germany. While Swift’s performance donned circus stunts and ringleaders, and fun. hung on stage with a few mannequins, Carly Rae Jepsen shared the stage with fans, before diving into the crowd herself for a bit of body surfing.

I Can Feel The Music In Memes: Songs As Internet Video Sensations

YouTube and music have gone hand in hand for a while now, helping break new stars (Gotye), and giving music lovers one more place to stream poor quality versions of their favorite songs. But perhaps YouTube’s greatest contribution to the music industry all started with the Chinese Backstreet Boys and their hilarious rendition of “I Want It That Way,” the video that spawned a sensation.

Six and a half years later, YouTube is no longer just a teenager, but hilarious lip syncing videos can still win over the crowd. Another sports team has lip synced another top 40 gem and have become mini-superstars themselves.
