Bronze Radio Return Make Rolling Stone’s Bonnaroo Recap

We love it when our friends become successful. Bronze Radio Return have been building their career for years and are finally poised to break big. Last week, they headed down to Tennessee to play the Bonnaroo festival. That was impressive enough, and then there they were today, smiling at us from the Rolling Stone live and backstage photo gallery. Hello gents, and well done.

Bonnaroo Club Stage To Feature Bronze Radio Return And More

The lineup for the 2014 Bonnaroo Club Stage has been announced and it looks like a pretty stellar bill. Our very own friends Bronze Radio Return will be there, which alone should be enough to steer you away from the main stage for a bit. But add to that a number of emerging favorites, including Skinny Lister, who dropped by our studios last year for an exclusive session, and our hometown heroes Speedy Ortiz and, well, you might do well to consider how you’re going to divide your time, festival-goer.

Bronze Radio Return Reveal SXSW Schedule

Bronze Radio ReturnBronze Radio Return have been on our radar ever since they made our “Best of OurStage 2010” list. Since then, they’ve graced every stage from the the side stage on John Mayer’s Battle Studies tour, to living life on the sea during their stint as performers on the Rock Boat. Now, the band is getting ready to take on another year of South By Southwest with five different performances down in Austin, TX. Check out the schedule here, and listen to “Down There” below.

Satellites and Sirens Launch Kickstarter, Offer Free Album Download

Satellites and SirensThere are a lot of reasons I have a burning desire to move to Nashville, not the least of which is the legendary music scene. In addition to the old school music business, and the attendant wealth of singer-songwriters, the city also boasts a history of cutting edge bands. Take for instance Satellites and Sirens. Citing influences like Jimmy Eat World, and 30 Seconds To Mars, these Nashville natives have perfected their craft well enough to earn themselves not only a sea of loyal fans, but a spot on the Rock Boat back in 2012, alongside acts such as NEEDTOBREATHE, and Bronze Radio Return.

But making music isn’t easy, and it definitely isn’t cheap, which is why the band has launched a 30-day Kickstarter to help fund their third full-length, One Noise. With a March 2014 release date, the band is offering some pretty cool prizes to help incentivize fans. Aside from the usual rewards of digital downloads, CDs, posters, etc., some of the more creative rewards include a phone call from the band, custom artwork on a guitar pedal, a Fender Telecaster, an in-home acoustic concert, or being flown out to be in the band’s next music video. You can check out their Kickstarter video below, and pledge here. The band is also currently giving away a copy of their last album, Frequency, which we highly recommend picking up. You can grab that here. Continue reading ‘Satellites and Sirens Launch Kickstarter, Offer Free Album Download’

The acts join the likes of Dave Hause and MC Lars, along with OurStage artists Larry g(EE) and Bronze Radio Return. If the current lineup isn’t enticing enough, it seems the festival has plans to announce a few more additions (perhaps more heavyweights?) closer to the festival’s launch.

You can check out a day-by-day schedule of the 2,000 + acts that will perform between March 11-17th right here and check out the latest additions to the lineup below.

OurStage At Sea: Missive From The Rock Boat XIII

Ahoy, OurStage!

James, here – your faithful OurStage editor and social media coordinator. I’m writing you from atop the Norwegian Peal, a gigantic cruise ship transformed into the 13th annual ROCK BOAT that is currently sailing somewhere near the Bahamas. It’s 85 degrees and cloudy here, but still gorgeous, and we are less than an hour from our third full day of rock and roll. I would have written sooner, but satellite-based Internet is not exactly what you would call a reliable form of communication. Don’t worry though, I’ve been carrying around my camera on all our adventures, and will have plenty to share with you all when I return.

The Rock Boat XIII departed from the Port Of Miami on Sunday night just a short while after the sun had begun to set. Organizers passed out shots of (festival sponsor) Cabo Wabo tequila to everyone of age, and a toast was held to celebrate the beginning of our journey. Later, from the pool deck, (also known as the top floor), attendees watched NEEDTOBREATHE play a full one-hour set while the lights illuminating the Florida coast slowly slipped out of sight.

The first two days were spent on Great Stirrup Cay, a tiny island outfitted with a large, ocean front stage specifically setup for this event. The boat’s 2000+ attendees were taxied from the ship to shore by a fleet of small tender boats, then set free to roam the land, take part in a number of aquatic attractions, eat BBQ, and of course, rock out in the sun. I saw festival hosts Sister Hazel play both full band and acoustic sets, as well as emerging acts like OS favorites Bronze Radio Return, all from the comfort of the ocean (it was way too hot to stand on the beach).

Bronze Radio Return: Pro Artist Of The Week

If only American Idol would take a cue from their own background music… Recent seasons of the hit game show and now cultural institution have THRICE featured our friends Bronze Radio Return, most recently on last week’s episode. The band have been a song placement machine lately, providing the soundtrack for a recent PGA ad on ESPN, in addition to spots for Nissan, on HBO, and on several prime-time network shows.

But their broadcast near-ubiquity is not the reason we love them so. It is of course because of the music – a positively ideal blend of classic roots music and modern rock. The key to making this formula work, as Bronze Radio Return does, is authenticity. Their sound and songs possess the burned-in feel of music unburdened by time. As individual musicians and as a functioning unit, they are apparent naturals. All reasons why we have selected them as this week’s OurStage Pro Artist of the Week.

We’ve been fans of the band for a long time, and are lucky to have caught them live several times, including a performance at last year’s South by Southwest festival. And we’ll be there when they rock the Rock Boat cruise at the end of this month. The band expects to release their new LP sometime this year, but meanwhile they have a new single called “Further On,” available on iTunes. See the video for their song “Shake, Shake, Shake” after the jump, and click here to listen to some more Bronze Radio Return on OurStage.
