DOWNLOAD OF THE WEEK: DEVIN BELLE

Devin Belle was born a Texan and raised an Alaskan. Sick of the freezing cold, she moved to Tennessee with her husband to embark on a music career in Nashville. Her adventurous spirit and angelic voice make for a compelling raconteur and singer-songwriter. While influences of country songbirds Martina McBride and Trisha Yearwood shine through her music, listeners can sense a bit of good, old fashioned R&B soul when she hits the high notes. Devin is making a home for herself on the Nashville live circuit in addition to making a home for herself on OurStage. In the past year she’s landed an impressive five Top 10 spots within the Alternative Country, Country and Female Singer-Songwriter Channels. Give her country chart-topping track “Mama Never Told Me” a listen and treat yourself to one of Nashville’s most promising rising stars.

YOU BE THE JUDGE: BOB & DEB SHARE THEIR FAN PICKS

osblog_ybtj_bobdeb2At the end of last month we featured Cathie Fredrickson as part of our new “You Be The Judge: Fan Picks” series. Now it’s time for our second installment! We talked to Bob & Deb, who have consistently held a huge fan presence on the site.

This shot falls into the category of "an oldie but a goodie."

Stats: 10 Predictor awards including Gold and Silver, 3 Connector awards including Super- and Ultra-, 6 Judging Excellence awards as a fan, 1 Top 10 finish as an artist.

Bio: [From Bob & Deb's OurStage profile] “We play all the instruments and sing all the vocals in these songs. We are hobbyists, recording on a BOSS BR864 digital recorder in our basement, so we know our limits and aren’t expecting to make it big. We do have fun making music and that’s what matters to us.”

Bob & Deb say, “It is very early in the month, so picking winners is impossible, as is picking the ‘best’ because there are so many great songs and artists on OurStage. However, there are a few notables that stand out this month, for us, that we think are worthy of a Top 10 finish. They are… “

Makin’ Do by Charlie Worsham for Alternative Country

“This song is a powerful presentation of musicianship and storytelling. Charlie expertly draws us into the belief that love conquers all with the song’s great hook; ‘… as long as I can count on loving you, I don’t mind makin’ do.’ Charlie is an awesome talent, and this song should be a winner on OurStage.”

Long Lost Friend by Steppin Out for Cover Bands

“‘Long Lost Friend’ is one of those songs that is so smooth and tight that hearing it gives us goose bumps! The vocal and instrumental performances of Dennis and Brenda are absolutely top notch and the production quality of this track is first rate! The competition in the ‘Covers’ channel is tough, but this song should be among the top tracks this month.”

“This is a definite contender with awesome vocals that soar effortlessly into falsetto, and a dramatic and swelling musical arrangement that exemplifies the best of the contemporary soft rock genre.”
Thanks Bob & Deb! We look forward to our next batch of Fan Picks, coming soon.
