Some people cannot help digging themselves a hole in life. More times than not, these same people climb out of those holes only to find themselves in another in no time at all. Kenny Chesney Tops Billboard With 16th Studio Album

Country star Kenny Chesney woke up this morning to learn that his sixteenth studio album was the most popular album in America. I cannot begin to know what the feels like, or what it’s like to write sixteen albums worth of material, but I bet he has a smile on his face.

Life On A Rock 153,000 copies in its opening week, bumping Michael Buble’s To Be Loved out of the top position. The release is not Chesney’s first number one, but selling 150k in a week in 2013 is worthy of a standing ovation in its own right.

You can view the top 10 albums of the week below. Chesney may want to enjoy his reign while it lasts because next week the star-studded soundtrack for The Great Gatsby hits the charts and it hasn’t left the top of iTunes in 3 days. Lil Wayne & Birdman Confirm New Big Tymers Album

Lil Wayne went on record earlier this year saying he was becoming bored with rap. In fact, Wayne said after Tha Carter V he would retire from rap for good. Now, in a new interview with MTV, Wayne reveals he has plenty more music on the way (or at least in the works).

Chatting with RapFix live, Lil Wayne and Birdman confirmed that they are indeed working together on a new Big Tymers release. Surprisingly, Mannie Fresh will not be part of the release, but YMCMB heartthrob Drake will. No explanation was offered for Mannie’s departure, but the duo did say that they have yet to record any verses for the release. Click here to view the interview.

As I Lay Dying Comment On The Arrest Of Tim Lambesis

On Tuesday, As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was arrested for attempting to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife. In the days that have followed there have been many more questions than answers, and now Lambesis’ bandmates have stepped forward with a comment of their own.

Taking to their social networks, As I Lay Dying’s additional members kept things short and simple, posting:

To our fans,

As we post this, the legal process is taking its course and we have no more information than you do. There are many unanswered questions, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days and weeks. We’ll keep you informed as best we can.

Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation – and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from.

Thank you for understanding, and as always, for your support of As I Lay Dying.

- Jordan, Nick, Phil, and Josh

Lambesis is scheduled to appear in a Vista, California courthouse at 1:30PM (Pacific) today for arraignment. He has been held without bail since the time of his arrest. Stay tuned to the OS Magazine in the coming days for updates on this developing story.

The Wanted Release “Walks Like Rihanna” Video

We have been discussing our confusion over The Wanted‘s new single, “Walks Like Rihanna,” for nearly two weeks. While the song is built on the same structure of every other pop hit, its lyrics and delivery lacked a sense of tongue-in-cheek/silliness that would make writing a song about something as silly as a girl’s ability to walk like another female acceptable. Now the guys are back with the official video, and though they seem to realize we think it’s a joke, it may be too little too late.

Almost every boy band reaches a point where they release a music video about music videos. By this I mean that the concept of the clip is the group, whoever they may be, trying out a bunch of ideas (often ridiculous) instead of creating a straightforward narrative. “Walks Like Rihanna” is that video for The Wanted, and their idea for a ‘video about videos’ is to spoof famous boy band clips. Backstreet Boys, *Nsync, you name it and there is a chance there is a reference in this clip. That may seem humorous, and at points it is, but overall the lighthearted video doesn’t gel with the more direct delivery of the lines in the actual song. Deftones Release “Swerve City” Music Video

California rock outfit Deftones have release a music video for their latest single, “Swerve City.”

The visuals for “Swerve City” are 90% shots of a beautiful woman roaming desert landscapes on horseback. I know the idea of a girl riding a horse through the desert may not sound like an interesting concept for a music video, but today that opinion will likely change. As the story unfolds it becomes clear she has secrets, and before the clip ends you begin to unravel the mystery behind why such a woman would be in such a hot, dry place.

Deftones are scheduled to go out on an international tour starting May 11. Click here for dates and ticket information. Continue reading ‘Deftones Release “Swerve City” Music Video’

David Bowie Debuts “The Next Day” Video

Music icon David Bowie has released the official video for his latest single, “The Next Day.”

Originally removed from YouTube based on a ‘misunderstanding,’ the latest visuals from Bowie are as cinematic as you have come to expect from the man who gave us Ziggy Stardust. Bowie is seen as a quasi-christ in the clip, with Gary Oldman as a priest and Marion Cotillard as a troubled girl with “holy” hands. We’ll let Bowie tell you the story himself, but don’t be surprised if some people start crying foul in the days ahead. You can view the video below.

David Bowie has never been one to apologize for expressing himself, so any angst one feels after viewing this video might as well be forgotten. Bowie is about art, and this is easily the most artistic thing we’ve seen in the last month. Comment and let us know if you agree. Continue reading ‘David Bowie Debuts “The Next Day” Video’
