T Mills Debuts “Bad Investment”

Up and coming rapper T Mills continue his rise to the top this morning with the release of a brand new single entitled, “Bad Investment.”

The first new material to surface from T Mills in 2013, “Bad Investment” features the young emcee partnering with fellow newcomer Troy Nōka. The track has a relaxed beat, but when the verses kick in so does the pulse of the track, and Mills enters to a thick drum and bass combo that’s quite intoxicating. The hook has a near-whisper like appeal to it, but I don’t think the sense of sexiness that was planned is exactly what comes across. Nōka does fine in his guest slot, but it’d be fine without him as well. You can stream “Bad Investment” below.

No word yet on T Mills next album/mixtape, but consider it has been about a year since the last one surface it’s likely another joint will come our way soon. Stay tuned. Continue reading ‘T Mills Debuts “Bad Investment”’

MØ Releases “Waste Of Time” Video

Indie pop is one of the fiercest markets to break into right now, but somehow rising pop act continues to gain traction with music fans and industry heads alike. Maybe its her angelic voice, or perhaps her jubilent spirit, but whatever it is there seems to be no slowing the MØ machine now that is in motion.

This morning, MØ took to her official YouTube to release a music video for “Waste Of Time.” The song is a fitting single, bursting with catchiness and originality, but I think many mainstream music fans might find its instrumentation a bit off the beaten path. Regardless, MØ has crafted a hilarious (not too related) visual accompaniment that will entertain even if the song does not. You can view the video below. Enter Shikari Debut “Radiate”

UK hard rock purveyors Enter Shikari have released a crushing new single entitled, “Radiate.”

Enter Shikari are not the kind of band that takes the responsibility of songwriting lightly. In fact, over the course of their career there are probably one a few songs lacking any kind of political of motivational message, and that certainly does not apply to “Radiate.” This is a song about banding together in the face of letdown to build a better tomorrow, and I can think of nobetter soundtrack for such a time. Click below to experience “Radiate.”

In an attempt to find a new way to make the industry work for them, Enter Shikari will continue releasing singles periodically in 2013. Stay tuned for another update in the weeks ahead. Continue reading ‘Enter Shikari Debut “Radiate”’

G-Eazy Releases “Must Be Nice” Video

G-Eazy, otherwise known as Young Gerald, has released his official music video for “Must Be Nice.”

Taken from his 2012 album of the same name, “Must Be Nice” encapsulates G-Eazy’s sound in a single track. The beat is heavy on the bass, but chill overall, and G delivers his lines with sense of sincerity that gets under the listener’s skin on first contact. His bars sync with your soul and before you know it you’re a full fledged supporter yourself. You can view the video below.

In other G-Eazy news, the twenty-something rapper will be joining Lil Wayne’s summer tour. Click here for ticket information. Continue reading ‘G-Eazy Releases “Must Be Nice” Video’

We Came As Romans Premiere “Tracing Back Roots” Lyric Video

Michigan hard rock outfit We Came As Romans have released a lyric video for their latest single, “Tracing Back Roots.”

The title track and lead single off We Came As Romans’ forthcoming new album, “Tracing Back Roots” first premiered online early yesterday morning. The song quickly climbed the iTunes rock charts, and just before the sun set on the East Coast the following lyric video found its way online. While the concept of these videos may seem tired, the approach WCAR keeps things interesting even for those who think the idea is a bit stale. You can view the video below.

After a day and many replays, I think it’s safe to say We Came As Romans have never sounded better than they do on “Tracing Back Roots.” After two full lengths (and two deluxe reissues), it seems this group has finally come into their own. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on the new single.

Tracing Back Roots hits stores July 23 through Equal Vision Records. Continue reading ‘We Came As Romans Premiere “Tracing Back Roots” Lyric Video’

The Wonder Years Announce UK Tour

Pennsylvania pop punk kings The Wonder Years have announced plans to embark on a UK tour in the coming months.

Only a month has passed since The Wonder Years released The Greatest Generation, and already a number of people are proclaiming the album to be the record of the year. While our jury is still out on that matter, we do agree TWK’s latest is one certainly worthy of your time. Even better, perhaps, is the band’s sizzling live show. The group’s UK run starts this November with support from Real Friends, and you can view the complete tour itinerary below: Continue reading ‘The Wonder Years Announce UK Tour’

Darlingside: Artist Of The Week

Darlingside

Folk-rock? Roots-rock? The gentlemen of Darlingside weren’t too sure about either of those monikers as it relates to their music, and so they became the Northeast’s top “string-rock” outfit. Call it whatever you want, but we took notice of this band after they placed at #1 in the OurStage Rock channel twice, with an additional five Top 10s, four Top 40s, an Editor’s Pick, and a two-week appearance in the Best of the Best Top 20.

But what finally made Darlingside a lasting favorite was stumbling upon a video performance of their song “Blow The House Down,” recorded live back in 2010. “String-rock” starts to make more and more sense, as these guys clearly aren’t just a folky act leaning more heavily on the bluegrass side of things. The strings they employ have a more classical tint to them. The tension created between that proper school of music and their otherwise loose – and indeed rootsy – melodic vibe.

And we’re suckers for frontman-bassists. Especially with that Rickenbacker. So please check out Darlingside, our Artist of the Week.

Hit-Boy Debuts “Jay-Z Interview Pt II”

Superstar producer Hit-Boy took a career turn towards rapping with the 2011 release of “Jay-Z Interview Pt 1,” and in 2013 he returns with “Pt II” in his epic tale.

Every great rapper needs one (or more) origin tracks. This material is how fans connect with artists who otherwise live luxurious lives after they’ve gotten beyond a point of wealth the rest of us will ever know. The “Jay-Z Interview” series is Hit-Boy’s attempt to leave his legacy on tape, and the latest installment is as good, if not tighter, than the original. Here fans learn about the last 18 months in the rapper’s life, and the visual accompaniment helps further drive home the point he’s living a life that could easily be envied. You can view the video below.

Hit-Boy has yet to announce a second mixtape, but the release of “Interview Pt II” gives us hope for the future. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on “Jay Interview Pt II.”
