Miley Cyrus To Team Up With Dr. Luke Again On New Release

It’s not even worth asking if you remember “Party In The USA.” Of course you do. Miley’s 2009 hit was so infectious that it would have taken a blood transfusion to get rid of it that fall. But it wasn’t just Miley who created that monster hit. Aiming for total chart domination, she teamed up with mad pop genius Łukasz Gottwald a.k.a. Dr. Luke, the same man who masterminded hits like ”I Kissed a Girl,” “My Life Would Suck Without You,” “Tik Tok,” “We R Who We R,” “Teenage Dream,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” and practically every other chart-topping pop song that you’ve heard in the past half decade. The man is a pop music machine, and he’s not done with Miley yet. After inking a new deal with RCA records, Miley will once again be collaborating with Dr. Luke on her new album along with other big names like Tyler The Creator and Mary J. Blige. Prepare your ears for complete invasion.

Featured Artist: Noble Three

Deriving their name from an old Celtic myth referencing the Three Noble Strains of music, this week’s featured artist is Nashville’s Noble Three. The duo bring a healthy mix of influential ’90s alternative and ’60s pop to the table, fueled by an intense passion for the music and art of both eras.

Patrick Rickelton and Tres Crow set forth with Noble Three, taking advantage of some YouTube notoriety gained from their previous band, Greenland, simply creating music they believe in. As the band themselves describe, “music that is both beautiful and honest is a worthwhile venture in an art world dominated by clichés and the preening of the Hollywood glitterati.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Frank Ocean May Press Charges Against Chris Brown; More Fight Details Emerge

The internet was buzzing yesterday with talk of an altercation between Chris Brown and Frank Ocean at a Los Angeles area recording studio. Apparently, the two vocalists and their friends got into a scuffle over a parking space that eventually lead to punches being thrown. Now that statements have been taken from the majority of people (Chris Brown fled the scene and did not speak with police right away), it seems most signs point to Chris Brown having actually started the incident.

According to TMZ, the accounts being given to police claim that Brown threw the first punch after Ocean refused to shake his hand. This lead to the eventual scuffle between groups, but police say neither singer was involved in the larger incident.

Given the nature of the attack, Ocean may be pressing charges against Brown, which could create a very interesting situation given Brown’s current probation. Reuters quotes Los Angeles County Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore as saying that Ocean “is desirous of prosecution in this incident,” so it seems such action is imminent.

Chris Brown still has yet to publicly comment on the altercation, but he did post a painting of Jesus Christ on the cross to his Instagram yesterday with the message “Painting the way I feel today. Focus on what matters!” Continue reading ‘Frank Ocean May Press Charges Against Chris Brown; More Fight Details Emerge’

Album Review: Ra Ra Riot – ‘Beta Love’

In 2001, the romance of technology was still lighthearted. For Daft Punk, erstwhile pioneers in the world of mainstream electronica, the technologies that propelled their “Digital Love” single to success in the new millennium – the soft synths and sampled wurlitzers – still weren’t at odds with human affection, human love, human communication. They were an addendum, a side note to human intimacy, which still had supremacy even in an age of gradually encroaching machines that would slowly command more time, love, and money than many interpersonal relationships. That time was still to come, though. At the turn of the millennium, America was reeling from other wounds, and the crush of technology was really not a concern. Morrissey Cancels Tour Dates Due To Hospitalization

Following his hospitalization in Royal Oak, Michigan last week, Morrissey has been diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer, which will force him to cancel six dates of his current tour, to be rescheduled. He is expected to make a full recovery within two weeks’ time, and will soon announce the rescheduled dates of his cancelled appearances in North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. The tour is scheduled to resume on February 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Contrary to his lyrics, Morrissey apparently never starts something he can’t finish.

Fall Out Boy Reunion Confirmed

After Property of Zack broke the news of a Fall Out Boy reunion this past Friday, the Internet has been buzzing with high hopes and anticipation. Coming nearly three years after the band announced their split, it’s all but confirmed that the hiatus is about to end, leaving fans speculating about the possibility of new music, new festival shows, and even new tours.

While we can’t tell you much, we will say that after a recent tweet from guitarist Joe Trohman, that read, ”The rumours are still untrue, unreal & totally outta this world! *shreds gnar, does surf’s up hand signal*. Seriously, it’s not going down,” we can’t help but join fans in wondering if the “denial” is a subtle reference to Skate & Surf Festival, which the band has been long rumored to play.

Check back for more updates, and let us know your thoughts on a reunion in the comments.
