Eminem Debuts “Berzerk”

Just a day after announcing his album plans via VMA commercial break, Eminem has released the album’s lead single, “Berzerk.”

The result of a collaboration with producer Rick Rubin and a sample from the glory days of ’80s hair metal, “Berzerk” kicks off the promotional run for The Marshall Mathers LP 2 with a throwback heavy song. Em attacks the song verses with the kind of ferocious delivery he built a career on, and even though the song is clearly designed for radio play there are a number of masterful lyrics littered throughout. You can stream the song below.

“Berzerk” may not fit sonically with anything you recall from The Marshall Mathers LP, but for the brash, energetic delivery certainly. It’s clear Em still has a lot to say, and we look forward to sharing more info on the album as it becomes available.

The Marshall Mathers LP 2 hits stores November 5. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on “Berzerk.” Continue reading ‘Eminem Debuts “Berzerk”’

Taking to Twitter, Tyler had the following to say about his latest material:

The soundtrack for Grand Theft Auto V arrives in stores September 17. In addition to “Garbage,” the album will tracks from Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Kendrick Lamar and OutKast.

*NSYNC Reunite At 2013 Video Music Awards

Following up on the confusing rumors that swirled early last week, the boy band known as *NSYNC indeed reunited last night at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Taking the stage in the middle of Justin Timberlake‘s extended medley of hits, *NSYNC spent approximately 90 seconds performing together before an audience of millions. In that time, the five piece, dressed in matching suits, performed a medley of songs with a tightly choreographed dance routine. It was not the spectacle fans had hoped for, but it was certainly better than nothing. You can view the performance below.

On second thought, is this even a performance? ‘Appearance’ may be a better term, and ‘publicity stunt’ may fit even better than that. There are of course no future plans, but if the madness that occurred online following the reunion rumor is any indication, it seems fans would certainly love another tour before *NSYNC says “Bye Bye Bye” for good. Drake Reveals Dual Cover Art For ‘Nothing Was The Same’

Rap sensation Drake has revealed the cover art for his forthcoming album, Nothing Was The Same.

The release of two separate covers has sparked speculation that it will come in standard and deluxe edition, with each cover representing a different version of the album.

Moving away from the photography that dominated his previous albums, the covers for Nothing Was The Same features drawings of Drake. The first is of the rapper as a child, with a pick in his Afro and a wide-eyed expression. The second is of Drake as we know him now, with a gold chain and a confident gaze. You can view both designs below.

In addition to revealing the album art, Drake also announced last night that the album has been delayed one week until September 24. No reason for the move was offered, but we’ll update you if more information becomes available. Continue reading ‘Drake Reveals Dual Cover Art For ‘Nothing Was The Same’’

G-Eazy Debuts “Been On”

California native G-Eazy is kicking off what is promising to be a busy fall promotional run with the release of a new single entitled “Been On.”

It’s been a good summer for G-Eazy. In addition to touring alongside Lil Wayne, the Must Be Nice rapper has been putting the final touches on his long-awaited debut album. “Been On” is likely not an album cut, as it was released with zero warning as a free download, but it does showcase an evolution in Eazy’s sound. The ’50s-inspired pop themes that helped him rise to prominence have been replaced by a more modern hip-hop influence, and that is certainly not a bad thing. You can hear the track and view the official video at the end of this post.

Directed by Bobby Bruderle, the video for “Been On” features G-Eazy in a classic pose while lighting a blunt in super slow motion. Inspired by still photography, the video attempts to create a series of fluid images that also function as still photos.

G-Eazy has not revealed his album plans at this time, but we’ve heard that will be changing soon. Stay tuned for updates. Continue reading ‘G-Eazy Debuts “Been On”’

Betty Who Returns To the Studio

Just months after making a splash on the blogosphere with her debut release The Movement, Australian export Betty Who has announced that she has already begun work on a brand new EP.

Speaking exclusively with Billboard this week, Betty revealed that she is currently in Los Angeles working on new material.” She thought about jumping into a full length, but ultimately decided a “part two” was a better move. “We also didn’t want to make people wait a year for more material,” she says. “I only have four songs out — that just seems kind of cruel.”

As for her new lyrical direction, Who says, “I was in an unrequited love-type relationship when we were putting out the first EP. A lot of the songs were about being in love with somebody and not having them love you back, and learning from that. I think, because I’ve been so busy, I haven’t really been distracted by men and by my relationships as much as by work… There’s definitely heartbreak in the second EP, but it’s a little less consuming.”

We fell in love with Betty Who back in April and cannot wait to hear what she has to offer next. For now, click below to enjoy the video for her latest hit, “You’re In Love.” Continue reading ‘Betty Who Returns To the Studio’

Pop rock outfit Artist Vs Poet are streaming a new ballad entitled, “Where I’m Gonna Be.”

Shedding their amplified sound for something more passionate, the latest from Artist Vs Poet is built upon the sound of a single piano. The track picks apart the lives of dreamers, specifically those in music, and the lofty ambition that keeps them going when times get tough. You can stream the song below.

The music industry is one of the most cutthroat businesses in existence. The rich get richer, the poor stay poor, and all too often the good man dies young. Artist Vs Poet want the world, but they’re learning to be happy with what they have, and that is a message that should speak volumes to fans. *NSYNC May Or May Not Be Reuniting For The VMAs

Pop fans, the wait for *NSYNC‘s return may be nearing an end.

The New York Post ran a story yesterday claiming an inside source had informed them *NSYNC would be reuniting this Sunday, August 25, as part of the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. The article did not name a source, but cited the presence of former band members Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, and Chris Kirkpatrick at Justin Timberlake‘s Miami show last weekend as proof something was in the works. The Internet caught on to this news in a matter of minutes, sparking trending topic themes around the band, but this morning new information has surfaced that is making us second guess the Post’s reporting.

Taking to his SiriusFM radio show last night, Lance Bass addressed the reports as rumors, and explained to listeners where he thought the news originated. Bass never directly said the group would or would not be reuniting this Sunday, but what he did say has lead many to think it’s all a hoax. He said:

I have to address the rumors. This morning, I woke up to a lot of rumors flying [around] that the *NSYNC reunion is happening after eleven years at the VMAs this Sunday. Well, let me tell you how this all came about. Justin Timberlake is getting the Michael Jackson [Video] Vanguard Award this Sunday at the awards, so of course people are automatically going to think we’re going to be there performing, but this is exactly how it happened and I knew these rumors were going to fly. We all came down here [to Miami] except for J.C. [Chasez]—J.C. stayed in California, he had to work… Continue reading ‘*NSYNC May Or May Not Be Reuniting For The VMAs’
