OurStage Radio Featured In The Guardian

OurStage UpdatesThe Telegraph, UK’s most widely-circulated news source, has published a list of the world’s best Internet radio stations and have included your favorite and mine, OurStage.com. We are certain this is due to the incredible wealth of talent supplied by so many great undiscovered artists.

“This innovative music service has an archive of songs by more than 125,000 unsigned artists, organised into 40 genres from Alternative to World. Listeners can tune into genre radio stations via the link above, or, if in a Simon Cowell frame of mind, can even judge between acts - the most successful of which get prizes.”

If you’re not already signed up, do it now – it’s easy, and you can connect via Facebook with a simple click. Then, get listening, tune your radio, pick favorites, make playlists, share, and judge channels.

Billboard’s Buzz On Amazing Media And OurStage

medialogoBillboard has just published a piece discussing the exciting latest developments surrounding Amazing Media, OurStage, our investors, and more:

“Former BBC executive Paul Campbell launched a new company in the United Kingdom in 2007, looking for ways to help musicians find a wider audience for their work. He established a website allowing select unsigned acts to upload their music, sell it — and keep the proceeds. Two years later, Campbell founded a radio station using a playlist built exclusively from the offerings on his site. He further developed his audience by adding a few shows carefully curated by a mix of ex-BBC and up-and-coming DJs. The result: Amazing Media, a powerful promotional machine that has become one of the A&R community’s most crucial tools for developing new talent and has helped propel the likes of Chvrches, Daughter and Alt-J to deals with major or independent labels.

Now, five years later, Campbell is launching in the United States. He has raised $9 million in funding with backing from investors including Sting, AOL founder Steve Case, producer Billy Mann, music lawyer John Frankenheimer and former EMI CEO Elio Leoni-Sceti. They’re joining a board to be run by former Shazam chairman John Pearson.

As part of its launch stateside, Amazing Media has acquired Boston-based OurStage.com for an undisclosed sum. OurStage gives fans the opportunity to vote for their favorite unsigned performers on the site — and allows bands to compete for the chance to tour with more established acts.”

OurStage.com Acquired By Amazing Media

medialogoGreat news!

OurStage has recently been acquired by Amazing Media. We at Amazing Media are a UK-based music company dedicated to helping new and emerging artists reach audiences. BlogEB_IndieP_120x120_WinnerAfter one year, thousands of artists, and three genre winners, Ernie Ball has selected a Grand Prize winner in the “Save Your Strings” competition. The winner will receive, in addition to their year’s supply of strings and accessories, Music Man guitars for each guitarist in the band and an official endorsement from Ernie Ball. In the running for the top prize were Pop winners Biscuits & Gravy, Rock winners The Jellybricks, and Country winners Gin House. Ultimately, Ernie Ball selected pop rockers The Jellybricks to receive the big prize.

OurStage is proud to host the music of such incredibly talented acts, and especially pleased to have helped not only expose them to new fans, but also to empower them with the tools they need to keep creating great music.

The Jellybricks will no doubt find use for their prizes as they begin to support their forthcoming record, Youngstown Tune-Up. The album’s first single, “About The Weekend,” was just featured by Little Steven Van Zandt as his “Coolest Song in the World” as well as video of the day on his hugely popular radio show The Underground Garage. Watch it below.

Congratulations to The Jellybricks, as well as Gin House and Biscuits & Gravy.

Kewin Cosmos Is The Newest Tr3s “El Headliner”

kewin cosmosWe had a great 2013 partnering with Tr3s Networks to discover and expose the latest in emerging Latin music. Let’s look back one last time to announce the winner of the Tr3s “El Headliner” Competition, Kewin Cosmos.

With a diverse set of influences that include Marc Anthony, Juan Luis Guerra, Ricardo Arjona, Sin Bandera, Usher, Jamie Foxx, Brian McKnight, and Celia Cruz, it’s no wonder that the judges, including special guest judge Toby Love, found Cosmos’ smooth blend of Latin elements into pop music so compelling. Though the field of the El Headliner channel was competitive, his song “Imaginate” stood out for it’s balanced approach to modern Latin pop, not to mention Cosmos’ natural talent as a singer.

Cosmos will get spotlight artist features on Tr3s’ show Top 20, as well as Tr3s.com’s Music My GüeyDescubre & Download, and Blogamole. Stay tuned for the next edition of El Headliner, coming soon.

Gin House: Ernie Ball “Save Your Strings” Country Winner

IJUHDXCIDOVG-520x520The third and final installment of our 2013 Ernie Ball “Save Your Strings” Competition was the search for one great artist in our country category to win a year’s supply of strings and accessories. We’ve previously introduced you to our pop winner, Biscuits & Gravy, and our rock winner, The Jellybricks. They will now be joined in consideration for the grand prize – an endorsement deal with Ernie Ball and a Music Man guitar for each player in the band – by our country winner, Gin House.

Gin House has a winner with their great country porch stomper “Roots,” a perfect title for this band, whose other songs reveal a passion for all kinds of Americana beyond country – blues, folk, and even classic pop. The main driver behind Gin House is Brandon Clark, who sings with a voice like tarnished gold – built for radio, but with a deep character, and sounded with conviction. Check out the appropriately slow-burning stunner “The Fire Is Alive” for evidence. Clark founded the band in 2011 with Paul Lynch, and the following year released their self-titled 5-song EP, which features “Roots.” In support of the release, Clark hit the road with Austin Renfroe, hitting colleges from the Northeast to the upper Midwest. Sad to say we missed them last time around, but we won’t that mistake again.

All of the songs from the EP are currently posted on their OurStage page – highly recommended listening. Stay tuned for the selection of the Ernie Ball “Save Your Strings” Grand Prize winner.

2013 Intel Superstars Winner!

24243_OurStage_120x120_0002_WinnerThe 2013 Intel Superstars competition has concluded. After listening to and carefully evaluating the final Top 20, Intel and their panel of judges have selected as the grand prize winner Sara Lindsay, whose song, “Make It All Right,” was a clear favorite. The combination of her strong voice with the song’s unique and compelling melody and pristine production put Sara over the top of some really tough competition. Sara will take home $10,000, courtesy of Intel!

In fact, some of Sara’s competition was so good that we’d like to highlight some of our personal faves here, as well. Enjoy.

Annalise Emerick, “This Love Won’t Break Your Heart”
This was a standout hit here at OurStage HQ, both for the beauty of its melody and harmony, the simplicity of the production, and the timely New Year’s Eve lyrical sentiment.

The Search For The 2013 Intel Superstar Is Almost Over – WINNERS

intel banner genericIt’s all in the hands of the judges now. After almost five months of competition, spanning eight different genres and three different rounds, the Top 20 artists in the Intel Superstars competition are now being evaluated by our judging panel. One winner will take home $10,000.

The #1 ranked artists from each of the genre channels have already been named prize winners, and will each receive a pretty great package that includes guitars from Gibson, computers from Intel, microphones from Blue Microphones, amps from Orange Amplification, and more from Creative Labs, HDMX, Sonos, and V-MODA. They are:

Rock: Pullman Standard (Hollywood, CA)

Pop: Kristen Hope Justice (Buford, GA)

Latin: Gregory Telfort (Freeport, NY)

R&B: DeShaude (Toluca Lake, CA)

Country: Stanford Joel (Charleston, South Carolina)

Singer-Songwriter: Addambongg (New York, NY)

Hip-Hop & Rap: KooL CrAzE (Fredericksburg, VA)

Electronic: E Live (Berkeley, CA)

These artists, along with the rest of the Top 20 from their channels, were all entered into Round 3, where the overall Top 20 from across the entire competition was determined. In just a few days, we expect to have a final determination from the judges, including Austin Renfroe (winner, 2011 Intel Superstar), Jason Ienner (Manager, Hot Chelle Rae and Haerts), Bruce Tyler (Industry Executive, former EVP at Sony), Tommy Page (Pandora VP of Artist and Brand Partnerships), Brian Nolan (Senior Director, Creative Agency – Columbia Records), Justin Lassen (Producer, Nihil Studios), Mike Rivet (Sr. Marketing Manager at Intel), and myself, Scott Janovitz (Director of Community at OurStage.com).

There are so many great entries in this competition, it’s going to be a tough selection. We hope everyone has a chance to listen and discover some new music. Stay tuned for the big winner.

Use ‘Judge For Me’ To Engage Fans And Rank Higher

As Round 2 of the Intel Superstars 2013 battle heats up, it’s a good time to remind our artist community about the “Judge For Me” tool. If you’re not using this when trying to rally your fans, you’re blowing it.

“Judge For Me” allows your fans to come to the site and be guaranteed to see your song or video come up within every five battles. Not using this tool might cause your fans to give up judging, since they’re not seeing you enough.

The easiest way to use this is to search for yourself on OurStage.com. In the search results, you’ll see the “Judge For Me” button to the right of your name. Click on that button, then share the resulting URL with your fans on social media, email, or whatever works for you. Your fans will go right to that page and can select the channel to support you in.

Note that this is for regular judging rounds. Once a competition has advanced to the semi-finals, there are too few artists in competition for this to work accurately and fairly.

Good luck.
