Pedro Eça E Os Franco Atiradores

The Weekly RhythmMonth after month, Pedro Eça e Os Franco Atiradores are one of my favorite acts to stumble upon in the Latin Channel. Four Top 10 finishes and two Channel wins are just the beginning of their arsenal of OurStage accomplishments: they’ve racked up a whopping 16 other badges as active Fans of music on the site.

Cigars, three piece suits, funky grooves. It’s hard to decide where to start when telling people about this band. If you’re a fan of Gentlemen Hall, you’re going to love this group — especially if you speak Portuguese and have an affinity for brass instruments.

Maxing out at nine members, Pedro Eça e Os Franco Atiradores (Pedro Eça and The Franco Fighters) create their own brand of R&B-ska-rock-funk music. Eça, a native of Portugal who ended up in Brazil, began playing guitar when he was 14-years-old. Twenty-two years later, he’s still writing and performing, joined now by his trusty Atiradores. Their weapons are saxophones, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, a tight rhythm section and more. Their goal? Well, Pedro says on their profile page that his goal is to “pass [along] pertinent messages of the true actuality of our society.”

Um, dois, três, quatro, cinco, sex, seite, oito, nove!

They’ve got the look, the sound, and the groove to bring any audience to its feet. Clear yourself some room to dance and give our playlist a listen. And don’t forget to follow the band on Twitter to keep track of what they’re up to next!
