“I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring.” ~ David Bowie
A month ago, this quote was posted on Facebook by Abdias Ernesto Garcia, the object of our musical affection in this week’s “The Weekly Rhythm”. The quote seems a fitting commentary on his work, whether that’s what he was getting at or not.
We admit it. We sneaked Abdias into a “Weekly Rhythm” playlist back on Valentine’s Day, but that was just a tiny taste of things to come. The best thing about Abdias is that all of his songs are unique from one another, combing elements of Latin, reggae, electronic, experimental and other genres. Never boring, always taking a new twist or turn, the playlist below will serve as a well-balanced introduction to this multifaceted Latin artist.

"Experimento de La Vida"
Abdias Ernesto Garcia hails from Puerto Rico and has been making music since the tender age of 2 “when he began playing percussion on his grandma’s pots and pans,” according to his fanclub page. Currently, Abdias resides in Orlando where he makes music that he has written — often featuring some of the best musicians in the area — and working hard producing music for others. In addition, he has been touring with the Native Music Rocks tour, which was developed to help showcase and further the careers of Native American musicians.
His solo debut, Experimento de La Vida, is available now on iTunes.
