The Mexi-music scene has increased in diversity over the years drawing upon global influences in electronic, rock and hip hop. These days Mexican rock acts like Kinky and Zoé are sonically almost indistinguishable from their US, Canadian and UK contemporaries. Now it’s time to venture south of the border to find the best OurStage artists from Mexico.

Fhernando

Kicking it up on the dance floor is a young DJ named Fhernando. From modern electro house to slick and airy 70s NYC-inspired grooves, this guy knows how to get a crowd moving. Dig the funky flute on his tune “Sweet Addiction.”

FERO combines traditional Mexican music with rock and hip hop on his genre- bending track “Se Me Perdio La Cadenita.” The Mexico City-based singer-songwriter’s penchant for infusing bell-canto singing with rapped lyrics in a single song spells a recipe for crossover success.

Viva la power pop! With sing-a-long singles like “Follow,” Monterrey, Mexico’s Sexy Marvin is a three-piece band with roots dating back to the mid-90s. Their classic sound is a must hear for fans of Coldplay and The Stereophonics.

For those who can’t wait for an At The Drive-In reunion and crave constant change ups in their post-rock, there’s a Mexico City band by the name of Stanza worth checking out. Their track “Easy” has more mood swings and guitar noodling than you could ever ask for.
