Highlights from the Kaki King Artist Access Interview:

“…someone that can connect all the various elements that you start to run into as an artist is invaluable. That’s what a good manager would do.”

“It’s kind of incredible you can feel like you know who really cares about your music, and who they are and that’s really great.”

“If you have any kind of capital to spend, put it into your recordings, into touring and things that will make your music as good as it can be."

"Your music’s got to be really good. Your music, your posters, the bulls—t…don’t worry about that stuff. Just make the music really, really good and everything else will fall into place."

About Kaki King:

Even at 5’1” Kaki King (born Katherine Elizabeth King) is one of the worlds most accomplished female musicians. The 28-year-old started music at an early age with a lot of encouragement from her father. Her first introduction to music was the guitar, but her first serious instrument was the drums. It wasn’t until after high school that Kaki picked up the guitar again, while she was at New York University with friend and upright bassist Morgan Jahnig. King combines fret tapping with slap bass techniques to deliver one of the most unique and complex sounds heard today. Her resume includes three complete albums spanning across multiple musical genres, as well as several big tours, and working with the Foo Fighters. Lead singer Dave Grohl has had nothing but praise for Kaki King, who performed “Ballad of the Beaconsfield Minors” with the Foo Fighters on their album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. King’s last album …Until We Felt Red saw her expanding her musical expertise to include more vocal work than her two previous albums, as well as the use of electric guitar as well as acoustic. With her next album release just around the corner, King has shown her enthusiasm about the CD, which Kaki fans are expecting to be her most accomplished album to date. Says Kaki:

“We really concentrated on the melodies. Everything I write tends to be dense and chordal, but this time the idea was to layer the challenging guitar work under very simple, beautiful melodies. I really wanted them to be memorable.”

Kaki’s highly anticipated fourth album, Dreaming of Revenge, is due to hit the market on March 11th, 2008.
