- The result of a strange series of coincidences, Akrobats was born in the summer of 2006 when an American poet (Aaron Rux, USA) and two musicians (Juan Manuel de Saso and Pastor Martín, Spain) of distinct backgrounds crossed paths. Over a singular creative process, this peculiar triangle soon added the voice of singer Sandra Dominique, and little by little, the number of musicians continued to increase (Illo de la Llave, Fernando Mainer, Javier Martin, Anthony Caseiro, Iria Saavedra…etc.) until they arrived at the conclusion that Akrobats was in fact a small orchestra. Often working remotely in different cities (Madrid, Seattle, Berlin), the material and the concept of the group was developed over the course of two and a half years, culminating with the decision to self-produce,“The Elvis Tree Orchestra”. However, before the completion of their first album, Akrobats’ music has been used in various television advertisements (Mercedes- Benz, FNAC, Balay...) and film soundtracks (the 2009 Goya nominated documentary “La clase”). While difficult to characterize, the shifting universe of Akrobats finds itself at some point between a small orchestra, a voluptuous pop group, or a strange big band, offering a complex musical landscape that could be compared to a cinematic experience or a film soundtrack. From the aggressive vocal melodies in Spanish, to whispered lyrics in English, from the classic orchestration to the pulse of pure electronica, Akrobats juggles these various styles and genres without anxiety.
