THE CROSSROADS BLUES BAND BIO The members of Crossroads are Dave “Gator” Allemang (Guitar/vocals) from Indianapolis, IN, Melvin “The Bottom” English (Bass Guitar/Vocals) from Battle Creek, MI, Jeff “Fuego” Fernandez (Drums/Percussion) from Costa Rica and Edward “Eddie Blue” Lester (Saxes/Vocals/Percussion) from Texas. The members of this band come from diversified musical backgrounds. There is a wealth of experience in the band, from classically taught to self-taught. When they hit the stage they are together, movin’ and groovin’ the music, whether it be some of that good old style jump blues, swing or funk, it is a show and they are tight. Dave Allemang (Guitar/Vocals/Harmonica) Indianapolis, IN Dave has very insightful playing abilities as well as very, very good music composition skills. He has played in all types of musical configurations. He has attributes ranging from country thru to Blues/R&B and original composition. He plays very technically sound and gives much soul and power to the band’s many variations of music. Dave has played in many bands in and around the Kalamazoo area and has a love affair with the people. Melvin English (Bass Guitar) Battle Creek, MI Melvin English is an asset no matter who he plays with and he has played with many different types of musical groups, from gospel to classical to Jazz/Blues and R&B. Melvin is a sought after studio musician and has played with the likes of the Coasters, Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Skeletones, Jr. Walker and the All Stars and many, many more. He adds solid bottom to the band’s varied forms of music and has a love affair with the people Jeff “Fuego” Fernandez (Drums/Percussion) Costa Rica Jeff is the spark plug of this band and his many rhythms and poly-rhythms helps to add color and musical direction to the different types of music that the band plays. Jeff helps to define the musical directions and tightness of the group. Edward ”Eddie Blue” Lester (Saxes/vocals/percussion)Texas Eddie has been playing all types of music for many years, from concert bands to rock bands to funk bands to Jazz/Blues/R&B bands and he loves it all. Eddie is also one of the composers of music for this band. Eddie has been on the road with many bands and at present just love to play. Eddie was taught to play saxophone at an early age. Learning to play saxophone was like a gift to him from heaven and he has never been able to quit. He loves the people and the way they make you feel.
